Introduction

With any new piece of writing, people always browse for a point of common interest. If you get five seconds to grab their attention, keep them reading and pass your information across. That's a lot. Well done. NEXT? No. Hold up a second. Your eyes have already moved from the top right of the screen down to the bottom left and I don't need to tell you, THIS BLOG has SNATCHED your attention.

Now I have no intention to be rude, though merely share some thoughts.

In today's technologically-driven-2012-world, we're constantly under pressure. Even the word itself reminds me of a piping-hot boiler leaking steam. Things move quickly - Come on people, Faster please. More efficiency. Produce more. Don't STOP. Keep going. On the left. Quick break. Deadline. Go, go, go!

The human race. - Sometimes we do not seem to remember one fundamental lesson that we are taught from the very beginning.

There is a time to work and there is a time to play. Given that you are reading my post, I take it you have got some time to play. Well, I'll give you something for nothing. Shared knowledge. Free. No, I'm not trying to sell you something. Argh, online ads? Waste of time right? Couldn't agree more.

Moving along swiftly, I'd like to introduce myself briefly. My name is Christopher. It is Greek in origin and means bearer of Christ for all our religious folk. I'm 21 years old, born August 22nd 1990. Okay? So - just another number right? One in 6.something BILLION. Oh, No. You are not entitled to count me out, not yet. I have yet to prove myself. I am a born leader. I am a writer. I am a thinker. I am a mover. I go with the pace, the continous flow that keeps people moving. The same human race and rush that everyone else seems to find themself in and well, where exactly ARE we going? Is there a winner? A prize. In recent years, I have developed a liking for coming first.

So HERE it is, that free piece of knowledge I'm going to give you. Some of you may already know this, in fact, it should be common sense although, well... I need not have to explain further.

If there is one lesson I will always remember, [I can almost hear my mother saying it] - "Nobody is going to do it for you." Wow, if only I'd had the maturity to listen back then and learn from this as quickly as possible. Don't get me wrong, I don't consider myself lazy. However, I could have really gotten my arse into gear a lot sooner.  Take the Initiative.

I am a college student, studying my 3rd year in Media and Journalism. I work with people the same age as me on a daily basis. Whether in a classroom environment or in a group assignment. Whether it be casual conversation over a cup of coffee. (Or as my friends might tell you, my usual preference - a bottle of Coca Cola.) One thing I have noticed is that people are frequently complaining about their every day struggles. Now, I'm not here to belittle anyone and I'm certainly not here to give you that same old 'There are people out there with bigger problems' line (even though I just have), haha. What I will say though, is that people are typically very lazy. They do not want to work hard. They do not want to put in the effort. They will think, what is in this for me? Usually, nothing. For the time being. However, set yourself aside. Being like that IS what makes you a number. Be the one to stand up and say, You know what? I'm going to be the VERY BEST. Don't take no for an answer. Don't settle for half-hearted efforts. You are given these things on a daily basis and so often, you do not know any different when you are doing it yourself. Keep thinking, trying, challenging, adapting. Let no one tell you otherwise.

Be aware. Again, Think about what you are doing. Think about why you are doing it. Think about how it affects other people. Think about how it affects you. Plan. Give yourself a goal. Reward yourself. Learn more, encourage hard work. Practice determination. Why though? Well, quite franktly, Why not? It is all about changing the questions. You will find the following article a must read on said point (Here). There is one word that sums up all of this. ATTITUDE. Yes, the big ATT. A positive attitude is what gets you that job you have been pushing to get for the last two years and because Why? You were persistent, you did not take no for an answer, you made a nuisance of yourself and somebody noticed. Now you are working, now you have the money, now you can reward yourself, splurge, go wild and enjoy life. Life is like a mouth-watering leg of lamb served in a juicy marinade, served on a silver platter at your favourite fine-dining restaurant. So, back to the lamb - You can devour it. You can eat it in small bites. You can leave it for later. You can share it. You can let it go cold because you have forgotten about it as it has passed you by. OR You can grab the nearest knife and fork and sit down with the people you love.

To quote an ad I saw on television recently, 'People that eat together, stay together'. I bid you a goodnight, oh - and if you get round to eating that leg of lamb, let me know how tasty it truly was. I'd like to reflect on your success as well.

Goodnight, Mr. Christopher
